Pre-Arrival

Bookings/enquiries can be made by phone or email.
The mainline train station is in Haywards Heath where there are frequent trains to London (to Victoria, London Bridge, or Waterloo via Clapham Junction).  Haywards Heath is 8 miles away and there are taxis available at the station. There is also a station at Uckfield but the trains are much less frequent and it is a much smaller station. There is a bus service to Haywards Heath, Uckfield and Lewes and the bus stop is about one-third of a mile from the house. For those walking into the village there is a pavement. The major internet supermarkets all deliver to this area (Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury).

Arrival and Car Parking 

The drop-off area is immediately outside the cottage in the drive of The Manor House.  The surface here is gravel, then paved pathway to the cottage (accessed via a wooden gate which is 86cm wide).
There is ample car parking in the lane (a quiet cul de sac which leads only to the church car park and the house next door).
For those with specific mobility issues we can make parking (1 car) available in our driveway by arrangement.

Entrance

The front door (width 80 cm) has one step up of 13 cm.  This leads to a small lobby from which there is another door (width 72cm)into the main body of the cottage.  All other doors within the cottage are of the same width i.e. actual width 74cm but allowing for the width of the door on its hinges the practical width is 72cm.

Kitchen and Dining Area

All on entry level and open plan.  Dining chairs are wheelback with no arms.  Flooring is carpet.  Worktop height in kitchen is 92cm and flooring is vinyl. Oven door is drop down, dishwasher front loading, washer/dryer front loading

Sitting Room

There are 2 sofas and one upright easy chair together with a coffee table and 2 occasional tables with lamps on. The TV and DVD have remote control.  Freeview box is also provided. Flooring is carpet.

Bedrooms

There are 3 bedrooms – double, twin and single.  The double and the single are on the same level as entry; the twin bedded has 2 steps up, with handrail on one side.  Beds are standard height. All duvets and pillows are non-feather; bedlinen is cotton. Flooring is carpet.

Bathroom

The bathroom is on the same level as the single and double rooms.
From the door, the bath is on the left and the towel rail on the right; the space between them is 72 cm.  At the far end of the bath the available space opens out into a T-shape with the toilet to the left, pedestal basin to the right. Space to right of toilet (between toilet and end of bath) is 50cm
Bath (54cm height) with power shower over it.  Integral grab rails on bath and one grab rail on wall. Toilet (seat height 45 cm). Basin (pedestal, 84 cm height). Heated towel rail. Flooring is vinyl. Spacious airing cupboard.

Garden

Patio door leads from sitting room to the garden (small sill within the room, one step down, 16 cm height) which has a paved area with outside table and chairs, beyond which is a lawn.  The garden is enclosed by hedge/fence and is south-facing.

Shops, Restaurants & Pubs in Newick

Village shops include general store, bakery, butcher, chemist.
Pubs (three in total, lovely old oak beamed). Tandoori.
